“…something very magical can happen when you read a good book,” says J.K. Rowling, so share the magic.
Since it is the season of giving, why not spread some holiday cheer to people in your community by donating some new or gently used books?
Clearing off your bookshelves will make room for new books to read and enjoy and will give others the great gift of reading.
This holiday season Smith Publicity donated hundreds of books to two organizations, Operation Paperback and the Housing Works Bookstore Café.
Operation Paperback is an organization founded in 1999 to help military members receive new reading material. Operation Paperback sends books overseas to American troops as well as to members of the military in hospitals throughout the United States, as well as USO centers at U.S. Airport transit points.
Housing Works Bookstore Cafe has established itself as a New York City downtown institution and tourist destination for the last decade. The café is a full service bookstore and café run entirely by volunteers and donations. All of the proceeds from the Bookstore Café go to New York’s Housing Works.
If you are interested in donating books this holiday season or anytime throughout the year visit Operation Paperback’s and Housing Works Bookstore Cafe’s websites for more information.
